Fantasy Animated Drama ‘Hawkmaster’ In The Works At Fox From Ex-Pixar Pair Mark Andrews & Andrew Gordon & Oded Turgeman

Brave director Mark Andrews and his former Pixar colleague Andrew Gordon have teamed up with Israeli producer Oded Turgeman to develop an animated fantasy drama, Hawkmaster, that is in the works at Fox. Andrews, who directed the 2012 Academy Award-winning feature film Brave, will write and exec produce. A key member of Pixar’s senior creative team for many years, he was also head of story for The Incredibles and Ratatouille and co-directed and co-write live-action feature John Carter for Disney.

Netflix Sets Animated 'The Witch Boy' With Original Music by Haim

Netflix announced production on The Witch Boy, an animated musical feature based on the graphic novel series of the same title by Molly Knox Ostertag. It will be directed by Minkyu Lee from a screenplay by Maria Melnik (Escape Room), and feature original music from three-time Grammy nominated band Haim. The Witch Boy will be produced by Roy Lee, Miri Yoon and Ryan Harris through Vertigo Entertainment and released by Netflix.

Further evidence that Disney’s “Frozen II” is going to be a gargantuan hit at the November box office: Both Fandango and Atom Tickets have announced that the first day presales for the Chris Buck-Jennifer Lee-directed sequel have eclipsed those for all other animated films. While tracking has “Frozen II” opening to $100M over the weekend of Nov. 22-24, some B.O. prognosticators believe its higher at $125M. For Fandango, “Frozen II” is the online and mobile-ticket seller’s fastest-selling animated pic in its 19-year history, outpacing the presales of “Toy Story 4.”
