The animated film Nimona, scrapped following the shutdown of Blue Sky Studios amid Disney’s acquisition of Fox, has landed at Netflix, with Chloë Grace Moretz, Riz Ahmed, and Eugene Lee Yang set to star. While many have tried to use video game engines, like Unity or Unreal Engine, for animation in the past, Reel FX is the first to create an innovative production animation pipeline that utilizes the Unreal Game Engine to visualize and render every aspect of the show. ‘The Witch Boy’: Netflix To Release Animated Musical From Oscar-Nominated Director Minkyu Lee

Hailing from the Oscar-nominated Adam and Dog director and based on Molly Knox Osterag’s New York Times bestselling novel series of the same name, The Witch Boy takes place in a secret, magical community where girls are born to be witches and boys grow into shapeshifters. The Witch Boy will also feature original music by the Grammy-nominated sister trio Haim. Maria Melnik writes the script with Roy Lee, Miri Yoon and Ryan Harris producing. Vertigo Entertainment produces the feature and Netflix releases.

Netflix Sets Animated 'The Witch Boy' With Original Music by Haim

Netflix announced production on The Witch Boy, an animated musical feature based on the graphic novel series of the same title by Molly Knox Ostertag. It will be directed by Minkyu Lee from a screenplay by Maria Melnik (Escape Room), and feature original music from three-time Grammy nominated band Haim. The Witch Boy will be produced by Roy Lee, Miri Yoon and Ryan Harris through Vertigo Entertainment and released by Netflix.
